The People’s Health Open Evening

Modern Records Centre, Coventry

You are invited to please join us at the Modern Records Centre, Coventry, between 5.30 and 6.30pM on Tuesday 24th April. We will be having an open evening to celebrate the current exhibition there, which is about the ‘People’s Health’ and includes such fascinating materials as:

‘Oh won’t it be wonderful after the war’, a 1943 poem from the British Employers Confederation on the Beveridge Report
Lovely cartoons from the Young Women’s Christian Association picturing the citizens who they expect to be affected by the Beveridge Report – ‘His Own Boss – man with a barrow’, ‘The Man of Means’, and ‘Slippered Ease – the Grandfather’?
Speeches by Keith Joseph and Kenneth Robinson, former Ministers for Health, debating whether to introduce NHS charges under the guise of ‘patient choice’.

The exhibition will also feature a special cabinet curated by undergraduates at the University of Warwick, and a ‘People’s Wall of Memories’ taken from this very website! Plus we will have catering and drinks.
