Aneira Thomas

In media coverage of the 60th anniversary of the NHS in 2008, Aneira Thomas was presented as the first baby to have been born in the NHS. It is interesting that a picture of Aneira as a young girl, rather than as a baby, accompanied these articles. This indicates that in the year of the opening of the NHS there was less attention to this issue of being the first born. We would also be interested to know how common it was in the past for families to take photographs of the birth of their babies and of how the style of these images has changed over time.

    1. Wonderful! It’s a lovely name. Did your family choose it due to a special connection to the NHS, by any chance? We’d love to hear more!
