Peter Salt, NHS nurse and consultant to the long-running TV drama Casualty feels 'passionate about the NHS'. Salt has worked in the NHS since he left school: 'it's not perfect; far from it' -- but if you are seriously ill, he says, the NHS is where you want and need to be. However, his own first experience as an NHS worker was a shocking one, and as he describes it here, left him 'terrified': 'I thought, what have I done? What have I let myself in for?'
