‘Defeat Tuberculosis’, Public Information Film, 1950

This was film was created by the Central Office of Information and outlines how tuberculosis can be diagnosed and the types of treatments available. The film follows two sisters as they are examined for tuberculosis, with one sister diagnosed with the disease and sent to a sanatorium for treatment. The narrative is framed in positive terms, encouraging viewers to avail of the NHS radiography campaign for members of the public to come forward for a chest x-ray. This film is an updated version of the film of the same name released in 1948 with the newer edition reflecting the introduction of the NHS.
